Ride of Silence is Tomorrow, May 17th

Tomorrow is the annual Ride of Silence. The purpose is to raise awareness of cyclists’ rights and honor cyclists who have been killed in crashes. (7 cyclists were killed in Chicago in the past year.)

Details:

6:30 PM

Start: Daley Plaza

Finish: Ghost Bike at Lincoln and Addison, with a post-ride gathering at Burrito House (3547 N. Lincoln Ave).

Riders are requested to wear black armbands, or red if you’ve been in a bike/car crash. Helmets are required.

May 17 bike forecast: A Windy City.

(WE REGRET THE LATE FORECAST.)

Wednesday: Gusty! Gale-y! Blowy! Yes, that’s a word. Look it up.

Not only does Chicago have the market cornered on 19th-century boosterish bluster, it also has plenty of the real-life climatological stuff too. At least tomorrow.

WEDNESDAY WEATHER INFOGRAPHIC:

unnamed.jpg

Note the GALE WATCH in all caps. Winds could get to 30 MPH or higher.

Overall: high 83, low 67. 20% chance of rain. Winds 20-30 MPH.

I’m told that’s a live image from Lake Michigan. Except the wind is real and not coming from 747 engines.
